Hospitality staffing software for short-notice shifts.
Tempbench is hospitality staffing software for UK agencies that supply chefs, kitchen porters, waiting staff and housekeepers. See who is free on Saturday before you ring, search by role and distance from the venue, keep your event regulars on shortlists, and book shifts on a planner that blocks clashes. £12.99 a seat a month plus VAT.

The four o'clock phone call.
A venue rings: two kitchen porters tonight, and a chef if you have one. Here is that call in Tempbench.
Search before you ring
Kitchen porters within 5 miles of the venue, free Friday. The list comes back nearest first, with each person's week.
Ring from the list
Call from the record. Anyone who said they are off Friday has already dropped out.
Send the details
Open the Shift offer or Booking confirmation template, filled in with their name, in your email or copy it to your phone.
Book it
Book them on the planner. Someone already on a shift at another venue that evening cannot be booked twice.
Events, with a start and an end.
Weddings, conferences, the Christmas run. Each one is a job with dates, a headcount and shift times.
- The event
- A job against the venue, with its start and end dates, headcount, shift times, pay and charge rate.
- The regulars
- Keep a shortlist of the people you send to that venue, or for that season, and work through it first.
- The gaps
- The planner shows each day booked against needed, so you can see the Saturday that is still short.
- The follow-up
- A task on the client's record to ask about next year, with a due date.

Templates, sent by you.
Tempbench starts you with a Shift offer and a Booking confirmation, plus your own templates with fields such as first name, position and town.
Nothing is sent from Tempbench. Open the filled-in message in your own email, copy it into your phone, print it, or add it to the person's notes.
Where Tempbench fits a hospitality desk, and where it does not.
A good fit if
- You fill venue shifts by phone, often the same day
- You want to see who is free before you start ringing
- You send the same regulars to the same venues
- You run payroll somewhere else
Not the right fit if
- Staff are used to claiming shifts in an app
- You send shift offers to groups by text
- You need availability split into mornings and evenings
- You need timesheets or pay and bill in the same system
Questions hospitality agencies ask.
Can Tempbench text staff about a shift?
No. Tempbench does not send texts or messages. It has message templates, such as a shift offer and a booking confirmation, that fill in the person's name and role. You open one in your own email app, or copy it into your phone and send it yourself.
Can staff pick up shifts in an app?
No. There is no candidate app, portal or shift marketplace, so staff cannot claim shifts themselves. Tempbench is built for agencies that ring their people. If you want staff to self-book open shifts from their phones, a shift app with a worker side will suit you better.
Can I split lunch and dinner shifts?
You can book two shifts on the same day if their times do not overlap, such as 11:00 to 15:00 and 18:00 to 23:00. Availability is set for the whole day, though: a person is free, booked or off, with no separate morning or evening.
Can I track food hygiene certificates?
Yes. Food hygiene is a starting skill you can search by, and the certificate can be uploaded as a training certificate with a date. Tempbench warns 30 days before that date. It stores what you upload; it does not check the certificate with the training provider.
Try it with your own venues.
