Care agency software for the staffing side.

Tempbench is care agency software for the staffing side of a UK care agency: your carers, their DBS and right to work dates, who is free each day, and the homes you supply. It is not care-planning, eMAR or domiciliary rostering software. It costs £12.99 a seat a month plus VAT, with a 30-day free trial.

The Data checks screen: documents expiring in the next 30 days, duplicate mobiles, no postcode and records left incomplete

Staffing software, not care software.

Care agencies use the word "software" for two different jobs. Tempbench does the first one only, so check which you are shopping for.

DBS and right to work, with your dates on them.

Neither document works quite like a driving licence, so the date you track is often a date you choose.

DBS. GOV.UK says a DBS check has no official expiry date: it is accurate on the day it was done, and you decide when a new check is needed. Upload the certificate as a DBS certificate and enter the date your agency, or the home, wants it renewed. If the carer is on the Update Service, you can check its status online with their permission.

Right to work. When someone's permission is time-limited, GOV.UK says you must check again when it is due to expire, and keep copies during their work and for 2 years after. Put that date on the right to work document and Tempbench warns 30 days ahead.

Tempbench stores what you upload and the dates you enter. It does not check anything with the DBS or the Home Office.

Long days, waking nights, weekends only.

Most carers have a pattern. Set each person's usual week once, change single dates when plans move, and the planner books from it.

Usual week
Weekends only, Monday to Thursday, nights. Every new week starts from it.
A date off
Change one day without touching the pattern. If they then say yes to that day, tap They've said yes and book anyway.
Two homes, one carer
A long day at one home and a waking night at another that overlaps it cannot both be booked.
Too many in a row
A warning before a seventh day in a row.

Availability is free, booked or off for the whole day. There is no split between a morning and an evening within one day.

Booking panel for a waking night shift on Thursday: free care assistants with Book and Book the week, one booked elsewhere, and three who are off with a They've said yes button

Where Tempbench fits a care agency, and where it does not.

A good fit if

  • You supply carers and support workers to homes and providers by the shift
  • You want DBS and right to work dates in front of you when you book
  • You ring your carers for availability each week
  • You already run payroll elsewhere

Not the right fit if

  • You need care plans, eMAR or visit runs
  • You need call monitoring for home care visits
  • Carers expect an app to pick up shifts
  • You need timesheets or invoicing in the same system

Questions care agencies ask.

Is Tempbench domiciliary care software?

No. Domiciliary care software plans visit runs between clients' homes, care plans, medication records and call monitoring. Tempbench does none of that. It is for agencies that supply care staff to care homes and other providers by the shift, and need to know who is free, who is booked and whose paperwork is in date.

Does a DBS certificate expire?

GOV.UK says a DBS check has no official expiry date. It is accurate on the day it was done, and the organisation decides when a new check is needed. If the worker is on the DBS Update Service, you can check online that it is still current, with their permission.

Can Tempbench handle waking nights?

Yes. A waking night such as 20:00 to 08:00 runs into the next morning, and the planner treats it that way. A day shift the next morning that starts before the night ends is blocked as an overlap. Seven days in a row brings a warning before you book.

Can carers see their shifts in an app?

No. There is no candidate app or portal, so carers do not sign in. You confirm shifts the way you do now, by phone or with a message template that opens in your own email, or that you copy into your own phone. Bookings are not sent out automatically.

Try it with your own carers.
